What Will Rush Do at SAIC?

In a LinkedIn post published Thursday, SAIC said Rush will work with customers to address complex operational challenges, match their mission requirements with suitable capabilities and advance solutions that support mission outcomes.

The company noted that Rush’s experience spans organizational laedership, intelligence operations and mission modernization, drawing on over four decades of military and civilian service.

Who Is Steven Rush?

Rush is a career intelligence official and U.S. Army veteran who most recently served as director of the Missile and Space Intelligence Center at the Defense Intelligence Agency in Huntsville, Alabama, according to his LinkedIn profile. He led the center beginning in August 2024.

Rush spent over 18 years at DIA, where he previously served as chief financial officer from 2019 to 2024 and director of facilities and services from 2017 to 2019. His earlier DIA posts include deputy director of human resources, chief of staff for mission services and a role in global operations.

Before joining DIA in 2008, Rush served in the U.S. Army for nearly 22 years, beginning in 1987.

In his own LinkedIn post, Rush commented on the close of his federal career and his move to SAIC.

“While somewhat sad to be ending my 40 years of federal service, I’m super happy to be joining a great team at SAIC,” Rush wrote.

What Other Moves Has SAIC Made Recently?

Rush’s appointment comes weeks after SAIC hired Stephen Smith, a retired Army general, as VP and client executive. The company also named Prabu Natarajan permanent executive VP of its civilian business group and tapped Kenneth Crews, former corporate VP and CFO of Northrop Grumman, as CFO-elect. In June, SAIC brought on John Wagner, a program management professional, as senior VP of enterprise growth for Air Force, space and intelligence.

Beyond leadership changes, SAIC completed its acquisition of Information Security Corp., a developer of encryption and public key infrastructure software. It has since rolled out a quantum portfolio spanning sensing and post-quantum cryptography.

On the contracts front, SAIC secured a $742 million recompete task order supporting U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s traveler and cargo security systems. It also won a $400 million recompete contract with a U.S. intelligence agency.
