Forcepoint, a cybersecurity product joint venture of Raytheon (NYSE: RTN) and Vista Equity Partners, has appointed Matthew Moynahan as CEO effective May 9.
Forcepoint said Wednesday Moynahan will bring 20 years of experience in information technology, cloud services and security intelligence, as well as a background in sales and management.
Moynahan will succeed acting Forcepoint CEO Jim Hagan, who will assume the role of chief operating officer.
Forcepoint formed out of Raytheon’s estimated $1.7 billion investment and subsequent acquisition of an 80-percent stake in the cybersecurity products company formerly known as Websense in April 2015.
The Forcepoint venture operated under the name of Raytheon Websense prior to its rebrand in January.
Raytheon CEO Thomas Kennedy, also Forcepoint board chairman, said Moynahan will lead the JV as it completes integration activity from the defense contractor’s acquisition of majority ownership.
Moynahan previously held leadership roles at Reciprocal, Symantec (Nasdaq: SYMC) and Veracode, where he was president and CEO.
He was also part of NetScout Systems’ senior executive leadership team and worked as president of its security division after the company acquired Danaher Corporation, where he served as president of its Arbor Networks subsidiary.
