Both contractors will work to polish their prototypes for the “materiel solutions analysis” phase of the GDI project, MDA’s effort to acquire a missile capable of shooting down hypersonic weapons in the middle of a flight, the Defense Department said Tuesday.
The OTA modifications are valued at $29.5 million for Raytheon and $17.8 million for Northrop.
Efforts under the program’s next phase will kick off Wednesday and continue through July 2, 2023.
The total value of the agreements Raytheon and Northrop secured in November 2021 now stands at $91.9 million and $78.1 million, respectively.
In June, MDA exercised options worth at least $41 million each for the companies to conduct GPI prototyping efforts for a system requirements review phase.
