The National Reconnaissance Office has issued a request for proposals to potential sources of commercial electro-optical capabilities, according to a tweet posted by NRO on Wednesday.
SpaceNews reported that NRO released a broad agency announcement in July and is interested in non-Earth imaging, nighttime imaging, video, multispectral imaging and infrared imaging.
The agency set an Aug. 28 deadline for proposals.
In April, NRO Director Christopher Scolese announced at a symposium that the commercial EO capabilities will serve as the fourth focus area of the agency’s Strategic Commercial Enhancements BAA, which is open to U.S. companies and foreign firms with subsidiaries in the U.S.
