Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) has been awarded a 20-month, $600 million contract modification by the Missile Defense Agency to continue providing technical integration and operational support services for the U.S. ballistic missile defense system.
The Defense Departmentsaid Tuesday the modification increases the contract’s total value to $3.85 billion and extends Northrop’s services through July 31, 2017.
Northrop will support efforts of MDA and DoD to define, build and test and evaluate integrated missile defense capabilities as well as help military personnel to adopt missile defense readiness strategies, wargame command-and-control procedures, doctrinal requirements and operational concepts.
The company will also help the agency develop, maintain and operate IT infrastructure for the BMDS program.
Work will occur at various military facilities located in Colorado, Alabama, Virginia, New Mexico, Alaska, California and Hawaii.
The MDA uses research, development, operation, maintenance and foreign military sales funds to finance task orders under the cost-plus-award-fee contract, according to DoD.
