Navy Vet John Richardson Elected to Boeing Board; David Calhoun Quoted

John Richardson, a retired U.S. Navy admiral and two-time Wash100 award recipient, has been elected to the board of directors of Boeing (NYSE: BA).

He will serve on the newly formed aerospace safety committee and on the board™s special programs committee, Boeing said Friday.

Boeing Chairman David Calhoun said Richardson has experience and operational capabilities in the development and implementation of safety procedures and policies in mission-critical environments.

“Among other things, he served in four submarines, commanding one of them. He was later responsible for the full life-cycle safety and regulatory compliance requirements for more than 90 reactors around the world on nuclear-powered warships and in land-based facilities, Calhoun added.

Richardson is a 37-year Navy veteran who served as the 31st chief of naval operations between 2015 and 2019. He is a recipient of the Vice Admiral James Bond Stockdale Award and his naval career included time as director of naval reactors, director of strategy and policy at U.S. Joint Forces Command and as naval aide to the president.
