Textron (NYSE: TXT) has been awarded a $241.4 million contract by the U.S. Navy to procure materials and non-recurring services necessary for the construction of five Ship-to-Shore Connector boats.
The branch will obligate $177.2 million in fiscal 2023 and 2022 shipbuilding and conversion funds on the undefinitized contract action for the Landing Craft Air Cushion 100 Class, the Department of Defense said Friday.
Textron Systems’ SSC is an all-aluminum vehicle designed to transport up to 74 tons of cargo between ships and shore at a full speed of 35 knots.
Contract work will occur in the U.K. and at various U.S. facilities in California, Florida, Iowa, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, Ohio, Oregon and Virginia.
DOD expects the company to complete services by October 2025.
