Boeing (NYSE: BA) has received a potential five-year, $68.7 million task order to research, develop, integrate and test Increment 3 Block 2 updates of the U.S. Navy‘s P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft.
The company will help the service branch update and sustain P-8A acoustics system, subsystems and software as well as provide technical support, management, defect correction and obsolescence mitigation support services, the Defense Departmentsaid Wednesday.
Work will occur in Huntington Beach, California and Patuxent River, Maryland through January 2022.
The Navy obligated $6 million in fiscal 2017 research, development, test and evaluation funds at the time of award of the task order.
P-8A is a multimission aircraft designed to help naval personnel conduct anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance operations.
