NASA has tapped four companies to provide integration and launch services for a program that aims to leverage commercial suborbital reusable platforms to test new technologies near the boundary of space.
The Flight Opportunities Program will involve Aerostar International , Blue Origin Texas , UP Aerospace and World View Enterprises launching research and technology payloads on commercial suborbital reusable platforms under five-year contracts with a potential combined value of $45 million, the space agency said Wednesday .
The effort will help NASAs Space Technology Mission Directorate prepare emerging technologies for future operations in space.
STMD looks to initiate new programs next year to help address challenges of conducting deep space missions.
