Quantum Sky, the mission technology integrator formerly known as Tyto Athene and a portfolio company of Arlington Capital Partners, has named Sean Thompson as chief growth officer.
In the newly created role, Thompson will oversee enterprise growth strategy and work to turn quantum technology investments into revenue for government clients, the company said Tuesday.
What Expertise Does Sean Thompson Bring to the CGO Role?
Thompson brings more than 25 years of executive leadership in operations and sales, along with a track record of building strong teams that drive organizational growth. He most recently served as chief growth officer at CBRE Government & Defense Services, formerly J&J Worldwide Services, where he directed enterprise growth strategy, business development and client relationships spanning defense, federal civilian and other high-trust markets worldwide.
“We saw firsthand the significant role Sean played in turbo-charging the growth of former Arlington portfolio company J&J Worldwide, and backing proven executives across multiple portfolio companies is a hallmark of our approach,” said Michael Lustbader, a managing partner at Arlington Capital Partners and winner of the Wash100 award. “Sean’s role as CGO will be crucial to developing long-term value and signals a continuation of the company’s evolution in 2026,” he remarked.
Thompson was CGO at Idemia North America and vice president of federal sales at Unisys,. He was credited with setting sales and growth benchmarks at both organizations. He also served as senior vice president of business development and capture at Sotera Defense Solutions from 2012 to 2017. For three years starting in 2008, he served a similar role as business development VP at iGov.
Earlier in his career, Thompson spent 14 years as sales and operations director for the U.S., Canada and Europe regions at AMS, IBM and Northrop Grumman.
What is Quantum Sky’s Organizational Background?
Thompson’s addition comes at a time of transformation for Quantum Sky. The company rebranded from Tyto Athene earlier this month in an aim to sharpen its focus on artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, cloud and post-quantum technologies for federal customers.
Alongside the name change, Quantum Sky said it was expanding investments meant to help government agencies harden their systems against emerging quantum-era security risks while exploring potential uses for quantum computing, sensing and communications.
The rebrand caps roughly two years of transformation at the company, including Andrew Boyd‘s rise to chief executive officer and Cutter Brenton‘s appointment as chief AI officer, alongside a series of acquisitions that broadened its footprint in space software, managed cybersecurity, cloud compliance and intelligence community IT support.
