- Ultra Mission Solutions will join Booz Allen’s defense technology unit under Steve Escaravage

Booz Allen Hamilton has completed its $720 million acquisition of Ultra I&C’s mission solutions business unit, adding defense software, encryption and edge computing products to its portfolio.
Ultra I&C is a division of Cobham Ultra Group, a portfolio company of private equity firm Advent. Booz Allen announced the agreement in June.
Ultra Mission Solutions will handle commercial products within Booz Allen’s defense technology business, which Steve Escaravage leads as president. Escaravage is a 2026 Wash100 Award recipient.
He said warfighters and policymakers have pressed industry to invest in commercial products ready to meet mission requirements.
What Products Does Ultra Mission Solutions Bring to Booz Allen?
The business builds mission-critical products for military and national security customers. Its lineup includes Apex, ADSI, ACTS, Rain and Knox, covering command and control, secure data movement, edge computing and encryption.
Booz Allen expects those products to pair with its battle management, resilient communications and edge infrastructure work.
Horacio Rozanski, chairman and CEO of Booz Allen and a three-time Wash100 honoree, said the purchase speeds the company’s ability to expand and scale its defense technology products.
How Does the Purchase Fit Booz Allen’s Defense Tech Strategy?
Booz Allen has been steering capital toward cyber and defense technology as its civil business contracts. The company reported $2.8 billion in first-quarter fiscal 2027 revenue, down 4.2 percent year over year, against a backlog of $39 billion.
The company finished its acquisition of Defy Security in April, part of a push into cybersecurity platforms serving federal and commercial customers.
It has also taken stakes in drone manufacturer PDW, maritime robotics firm Ulysses, Portal Space Systems, autonomous systems orchestration provider NODA AI and NextG technology company ODC.
