NASA™s Ames Research Center plans to launch a solicitation for a recompete indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract to procure various technical services for its Rotorcraft Wing Technology Development program.
In a notice posted on the beta SAM website, the agency said the upcoming multiple-award IDIQ will cover research, development, engineering, systems analysis, modeling and simulation services.
Technology areas of interest outlined in the notice include electric vertical take-off and landing platforms and other systems meant to help increase rotorcraft speed, safety, survivablity and compatibility with environmental and community-based factors.
NASA is also seeking dual-use technology platform for potential deployment to civil or military operations.
The agency expects to issue a draft request for proposals in January, release the final RFP by March and name the winning contractors in September.
Boeing (NYSE: BA), Lockheed Martin’s (NYSE: LMT) Sikorsky subsidiary, Textron’s (NYSE: TXT) Bell subsidiary, Monterey Technologies and Georgia Tech Applied Research Corp. hold positions on the current RWTD contract, which the agency announced in late 2014.
