The Missile Defense Agency has posted a request for proposal for the design, development, test and deployment of a weapon system in support of the U.S. ground-based midcourse defense.
According to the SAM.gov solicitation posted Friday, the GMD Weapon System Program is aimed at equipping warfighters with tech operation capability, developing software and hardware for current and future missile interceptors, updating legacy platforms and boosting system communication capability.
The procurement will cover GMD fire control, a software for threat identification and tracking and interceptor launch allocation and scheduling; and in-flight interceptor communication system data terminal for information exchange between GFC Node and GMD interceptor’s kill vehicle.
It also includes ground support system, consisting of hardware and software for interceptor launch management; and GMD communication network, which provides link between GMD components and military integration and operations center.
MDA will award a potential 10-year, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity to a single contractor selected via open and competitive procurement process.
The winning company is also expected to provide services in support of GWS software and hardware sustainment.
