Upon completion of the merger, SES will assume a major shareholder position, helping expand D2D and internet of things, or IoT, services for mobile network operators, businesses and government clients using a multi-orbit, multi-spectrum architecture, Lynk said Wednesday.
The deal is expected to close by late 2025 or early 2026, pending customary regulatory approvals and closing conditions. Once completed, Ramu Potarazu will assume the role of CEO, while Ram Viswanathan will become chief strategy officer of the combined company.
How Will the Lynk–Omnispace Merger Expand Global D2D Connectivity?
The merger will integrate Omnispace’s globally coordinated 60 MHz S-band spectrum and International Telecommunication Union-registered filings with Lynk’s patented satellite platform, which already supports mobile voice and messaging for over 7 billion smartphones and IoT devices. Omnispace’s licensed spectrum, which meets 3GPP non-terrestrial standards and national regulations, covers over 1 billion people across multiple continents. Leveraging this S-band capacity, Lynk will expand its data, voice and messaging services to new devices, including automotive systems, while strengthening its D2D offerings through partnerships with over 50 MNOs in more than 50 countries.
