The company said Monday it will provide approximately 9,000 unitary and alternative GMLR warheads and 2,000 reduced-range practice rockets along with ancillary equipment and logistics support services through the contract.
This award comes after Lockheed reached a GMLRS delivery milestone after supplying the 50,000th rocket system to the Army.
Gaylia Campbell, vice president of precision fires and combat maneuver systems at Lockheed’s missiles and fire control business, said GMLRS is designed to support emerging needs for joint all-domain operations.
GMLRS is part of Lockheed’s MLRS family of munitions and is designed to support long-range, all-weather and surface-to-surface operations.
The GPS-enabled weapon serves as the primary round fired from the High Mobility Artillery Rocket System and MLRS M270 launchers.
