Leonardo DRS‘ sustainment systems division has landed a potential two-year, $192.5 million contract to support the modernization of U.S. Army main battle tanks.
The fixed-price-incentive contract covers the supply of active protection systems, countermeasures and calibration and maintenance kits for version 2 of the Abrams M1A2 System Enhancement program, the Defense Departmentsaid Friday.
Arlington, Va.-based Leonardo DRS distributes the Trophy APS offering, produced by Israeli company Rafael Advanced Defense System, to the U.S. market.
Trophy is built to automatically detect and neutralize projectiles before the threat reaches its target.
The Army solicited one bid for the contract and allocated $85.8 million in fiscal 2018 “other” procurement; and research, development, test and evaluation funds at the time of award.
Work will take place in St. Louis, Mo., through the last day of March 2020.
