The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center is obligating $69.2 million from fiscal 2024 procurement missile funding to Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace at the time of the award of the firm-fixed-price, undefinitized contract action, the Department of Defense said Friday.
The contractor will perform work at its Kongsberg, Norway location until Aug. 31, 2026.
JSM is based on the technology of Kongsberg’s Naval Strike Missile, which was developed to provide militaries with strike capability against sea and land targets, penetration capability against advanced enemy air defense systems and ship class identification ability through autonomous target recognition.
The new missile is equipped with advanced mission planning system for sea and land geography exploits and advanced imaging infrared seeker for automatic target recognition. It also has a highly accurate navigation system and low altitude flight profile.
