Kay Kapoor, formerly head of federal business at AT&T (NYSE: T), has been named president of a newly created global public sector segment that consolidates the company’s government and education businesses.
AT&T, which posted nearly $15 billion in public sector sales during 2016, offers communications and information technology platforms to government and education clients through the new segment, the company said Monday.
Our public sector and education customers are a top priority, Kapoor said.
By bringing all public sector teams together, we can improve the value and partnership we offer to these customers, she added.
The Commerce Departments FirstNet awarded AT&T a potential $6.5 billion contract to build and maintain a national public safety broadband network for first responders through the partnership.
Prior to AT&T, Kapoor served as CEO of Accentures (NYSE: ACN) federal services business.
She spent 20 years at Lockheed Martin(NYSE: LMT), where she served as vice president, chief operating officer and deputy of the companys information systems and global solutions unit.
