The Air Force Research Laboratory is working with cloud service providers and technology companies to gain access to platforms that would offer the lab visibility into its information infrastructure while managing the privacy and security of data, Federal News Network reported Wednesday.
James Sumpter, chief enterprise architect at AFRL, told the publication in an interview that Amazon (Nasdaq: AMZN), Google and Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) help the lab design, build and implement cloud-based tools at different classification levels.
He noted cloud transition efforts support hybrid work and digital transformation efforts at AFRL.
“We’re excited to bring digital transformation. And all of that means across those three areas: across our culture and our workforce, across our processes and improving them, adding in automation, doing more with our data and understanding more about our data and using that to inform improved processes and working towards the future,” Sumpter added.
