IBM will help U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services develop and maintain software systems for the Verification Information System under a contract potentially worth $279 million from the Department of Homeland Security, according to a Federal Procurement Data System entry.
According to draft solicitation documents, FALCON covers system support, operations and maintenance and software delivery services focusing on building new VIS features.
The contract will also support VIS’ primary programs, including the web-based E-Verify system, the E-Verify NextGen identity and employment eligibility verification process, and the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements online service.
These programs enable private sector organizations to verify an individual’s eligibility to work in the U.S. and allow government agencies to check an individual’s immigration status when applying for benefits.
