The new supercomputer will provide the national lab with analytics and artificial intelligence capabilities to help researchers facilitate simulation and modeling and advance research into diseases, climate, nuclear deterrence and materials, HPE said Monday.
Bill Mannel, vice president and general manager of high-performance computing at HPE, said the company is pleased to continue working with LANL to build a new system that could help advance workload optimization to meet research and development needs.
The proposed system will be based on new tech platforms using the HPE Cray EX supercomputer and will build on the national lab’s HPC system designs using storage and networking tools, graphics processing units, software, central processing units and other technologies from Intel (Nasdaq: INTC), Advanced Micro Devices (Nasdaq: AMD), NVIDIA (Nasdaq: NVDA) and Arm.
