The Department of Health and Human Services has chosen Salesforce (NYSE: CRM) to offer agency personnel access to the company’s customer relationship management tools under a potential $100 million blanket purchase agreement.
Salesforce said Wednesday the BPA serves as a vehicle for HHS operating divisions to order Salesforce product subscriptions and to help address a demand for CRM platforms across the department.
“By establishing this BPA, HHS is taking a big leap forward by increasing government transparency and engagement so that its agencies can focus on what matters most — the health and well-being of Americans, ” noted Dave Rey,  sales lead for Salesforce’s North American public sector business and a 2016 Wash100 recipient.
The Salesforce platform will work to help HHS users share information with the public in real time,  build cloud-based applications and access enterprise data.
The General Services Administration picked six companies to compete for task orders to implement, integrate and support Salesforce technology for customer agencies under a five-year, $503 million BPA awarded in late 2015.
