GovCon Expert McAleese: Defense Leaders Share Insights on Aerospace Warfare Landscape

A new McAleese & Associates report outlines key takeaways from the Air Force Association’s five-day Aerospace Warfare Symposium, where U.S. military leaders shared their insights into various topics such as nuclear deterrence, air superiority and domain awareness.

Jim McAleese, founder of McAleese & Associates and three-time Wash100 winner, reported that Joint Chiefs of Staff Vice Chairman Gen. John Hyten is urging the U.S. to sustain its nuclear triad and broaden its review of strategic deterrence approaches to potentially cover nuclear posture and missile defense.

McAleese also highlighted remarks by Gen. Glen VanHerck, head of U.S. Northern Command and North American Aerospace Defense Command, regarding the need to increase domain awareness in areas such as counter-unmanned aerial systems and hypersonic defense.

Gen. John “Jay” Raymond, chief of space operations at the U.S. Space Force, spoke about the domain’s role in communications, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance and long-range fire missions at the virtual symposium.
