Germany Picks Boeing CH-47F Chinook Aircraft for STH Heavy-Lift Helicopter Program

Boeing (NYSE: BA) will deliver the CH-47F Chinook aircraft to the German armed forces for its heavy-lift helicopter program, with the potential Foreign Military Sales deal reportedly reaching $4.29 billion in estimated value.

The defense company said Wednesday it was selected to provide Germany with the NATO-interoperable Chinook aircraft to meet its STH heavy-lift helicopter requirements.

According to a report, the European country looks to procure up to 60 Chinook helicopters to replace its legacy fleet of Sikorsky CH-53 Sea Stallion heavy-lift transport aircraft and strengthen its interoperability with allies.

The CH-47F is an advanced multi-role helicopter employed by the U.S. Army and other international militaries. It has cargo-handling capabilities and features a fully integrated, digital cockpit management system, Common Avionics Architecture System Cockpit.

Boeing and its Chinook Deutschland Team consisting of AERO-Bildung, Airbus Helicopters, CAE (NYSE: CAE), ESG, Honeywell (Nasdaq: HON), Lufthansa Technik and Rolls-Royce Deutschland will work on the program once the U.S. and Germany clear the potential FMS transaction.
