General Dynamics‘ (NYSE: GD) Electric Boat subsidiary has secured a $95.6 million contract modification to manufacture 17 tactical missile tubes for the U.S. Navy‘s future Columbia-class nuclear submarines.
The Defense Departmentsaid Friday the modification will support the joint U.S.-U.K. Common Missile Compartment program and includes foreign military sales to U.K.
Work will occur in Quonset Point, Rhode Island, through December 2023.
The Navy obligated $23 million in FMS funds from the U.K. at the time of award.
Electric Boat received a $101.3 million modification from the service branch last year to produce 22 tactical missile tubes for the Columbia-class submarine program, formerly called the Ohio Replacement Program.
Frank Kendall, former defense undersecretary for acquisition, technology and logistics, granted Milestone B approval to the program in January.
