General Dynamics Business Wins $150M Contract to Support Army’s Abrams Battle Tanks

General Dynamics Land Systems has secured a cost-plus-fixed-fee, cost-plus-incentive-fee contract valued at $150 million to support the Abrams Engineering Program.

The Department of Defense said work on the contract will be performed at the company’s facility in Sterling Heights, Michigan, until June 2027

The Army solicited bids for the required services online, with only one submission received. The Army Contracting Command at Detroit Arsenal in Michigan serves as the contracting activity.

The General Dynamics business unit is also in contract with the service to supply M1 Abrams tank sight units with containers. The firm-fixed-price, indefinite-delivery/definite-quantity contract, awarded in 2022, was valued at $99.9 million and has an ordering period of five years.

GDLS is the original manufacturer of the Abrams main battle tanks.

The company is also supporting the Army’s M10 Booker combat vehicle under a potential five-year contract awarded in 2024. Under the $296.8 million contract, GDLS will deliver technical services.

The M10 Booker, formerly called the Mobile Protected Firepower vehicle, enables infantry brigades to identify threat systems.
