General Atomics has purchased the majority of Surrey Satellite Technology US™ assets for an undisclosed sum in a strategy to advance the development of small satellites and other payloads.
General Atomics said Monday it will incorporate Surrey-US™ employees and assets into its electromagnetic systems business in support of growth objectives.
“We look forward to the Surrey-US team joining us as we continue to expand our portfolio of small satellite and mission-support capabilities,” said Scott Forney, president of General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems.
Forney added the acquisition would provide GA-EMS an opportunity to offer ground-to-space platforms through the use of micro- and nanosatellites as well as gain access to Surrey-US™ experience in small satellite design and deployment.
Founded in 2008, Surrey-US is headquartered in Englewood, Colorado, and is a wholly owned subsidiary of UK-based Surrey Satellite Technology.
Surrey-US designs, produces, deploys and operates small satellites designed to support defense, technology demonstrations, telecommunications and Earth observation missions.
