GD Electric Boat Gets Potential $160M Navy Contract Modification for Submarine Repair Parts

The U.S. Navy has awarded General Dynamics Electric Boat a $159.7 million contract modification to establish five contract line-item numbers, or CLIN, to facilitate the procurement of onboard repair parts for Virginia-class submarines.

The Department of Defense said the General Dynamics subsidiary will perform work in Groton, Connecticut, through November 2029.

Navy Contract Action for Virginia-Class Submarine Repair Parts

The cost-plus-fixed-fee modification to a previously awarded contract includes options for five follow-on repair parts shipset CLINS for SSN 802-806 submarines that could increase the contract’s cumulative value by $176.1 million.

Work will continue through February 2032 if all options are exercised.

To fund the contract action, the service branch is obligating shipbuilding and conversion funds from fiscal years 2019 through FY 2021.

In June, Electric Boat received a $987 million Navy contract modification for submarine production support

Work under this contract action includes additional component development, class lead yard support and submarine industrial base supplier development enhancements supporting Columbia-class ballistic missile submarines and the nuclear shipbuilding enterprise, particularly the Virginia-class submarines and the Ford-class aircraft carriers.
