Kirkland Donald Kirkland Donald , a retired U.S. Navy admiral and former CEO of Systems Planning and Analysis , has been elected as chairman of Huntington Ingalls Industries ’ (NYSE: HII) board of directors in a move that takes effect April 28.
He will succeed Thomas Fargo , who has held the chairman role since March 2011 and decided to retire after the HII's annual shareholder meeting, the company said Wednesday .
Donald, who joined the HII board in 2016, spent 37 years at the Navy and retired from service in 2013 as director of the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program. He previously commanded Naval Submarine Forces, U.S. Atlantic Fleet's Submarine Force, Allied Submarine Command and Task Forces 84 and 144.
After his military career, he worked at SPA as chief operating officer and later elevated to the CEO post.
He serves on the boards of the Naval Submarine League, Battelle , Entergy , Rolls-Royce North America and CyberCore Technologies .
