He brings to the newly created position over three decades of technology and business transformation experience in government and private sectors and will help accelerate digital transformation efforts in support of the company’s public sector clients in the U.S., Canada, Australia, Germany, France, Japan and the U.K., ServiceNow said Monday.
Iyer, a two-time Wash100 Award winner, will help “accelerate the mission critical nature of the work we do with governments around the world, to transform experiences for employees, service members, and citizens,” said Bill McDermott, chairman and CEO of ServiceNow.
Iyer said he is thrilled to join a company that seeks to help governments transform the way they serve their citizens through cloud-based digital technologies.
As Army CIO, Iyer managed an annual information technology budget of about $16 billion and oversaw the service branch’s digital transformation efforts.
His private sector career included time as managing director of government and public services at Deloitte and chief technology officer and vice president of product development at Aspire3d.
He also held positions within the U.S. government, including senior technology adviser for Healthcare.gov at the Department of Health and Human Services, CTO of Army Materiel Command and director of data management for Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command.
