Fisher Industries has received a potential $289.5M contract to build an additional 17 miles of border wall infrastructure for the U.S. Border Patrol Laredo Sector's area of responsibility in Webb County, Texas.
The U.S. Customs and Border Protection said Monday that Fisher Industries will perform contract work at areas “where no barriers currently exist” to support the Laredo Sector’s efforts to prevent drug and human trafficking, transnational crime and illegal border crossing.
CBP noted that illegal activities in the Laredo area primarily occur in locations that lack infrastructure as well as mobility, access and technology.
Law enforcers have seized over 30K pounds of drugs and apprehended more than 27K illegal aliens in fiscal year 2020 to date, according to the agency.
CBP will obligate FY 2020 appropriations for the border construction award.
Headquartered in Tempe, Ariz., Fisher Industries operates under Fisher Sand & Gravel Co. and offers a range of civil construction services including residential land development, freeway extension and bridge construction.
