Envistacom Adds Virtualization Platform With Fast Fit Technologies Acquisition

Envistacom has acquired Frederick, Md.-based virtualization technology provider Fast Fit Technologies in a move to offer virtualized communications waveform and data analytics applications to the Department of Defense.

Atlanta-based Envistacom said Tuesday it aims to provide a common network infrastructure designed to host virtualized waveform applications that users can access in real time from a library of intellectual property cores.

Michael Geist, vice president of strategy and technology at Envistacom, said virtualization methods work to help users manage communications networks and satellite constellations “without being limited by any single ecosystem.

Fast Fit Technologies uses the OpenCL framework for heterogenous computing and high-performance commercial off-the-shelf servers that are built with field-programmable gate array-based hardware acceleration tools.

The company has supported U.S. military clients via the Small Business Innovation Research program.
