DOE said Monday the first document focuses on HALEU material production activities and the second notice centers on uranium hexafluoride gas conversion efforts to support reactor fuel product fabrication.
The department will use public input to help finalize the requests for proposals.
DOE estimates a need for over 40 metric tons of HALEU by the end of the decade and additional annual requirements to help the nuclear reactor development sector build advanced systems while helping the government meet its goal of achieving national clean energy goals.
