Cristiano Amon, executive vice president of Qualcomm™s (Nasdaq: QCOM) technologies business, has been named president of the San Diego, California-based telecommunications equipment provider in a move that takes effect Jan. 4.
Amon will help develop growth strategies for the company™s core businesses in his new position, continue to serve as president of Qualcomm CDMA Technologies and directly report to CEO Steve Mollenkopf, the company said Wednesday.
Mollenkopf said Amon™s experience and skills in engineering, business and operations would help the company advance technology edge across networking, mobile, automotive, internet of things and edge computing areas as well as pursue its 5G transition efforts.
Amon started his career at Qualcomm in 1995 as an engineer and since then, he has held senior leadership roles such as co-president of QCT and senior VP of product management at QCT.
He is also a member of the company™s executive committee and has been responsible for QCT’s product roadmap since 2008.
Prior to Qualcomm, he worked at Brazil-based Vesper as chief technical officer and held roles at several technology firms such as Ericsson, NEC and Velocom.
