A joint venture between Collins Aerospace and Elbit Systems of America has secured a two-year, $16.8 million contract from the U.S. Navy to update a head-worn device that allows fighter pilots to cue aircraft weapons and sensors for target acquisition.
Collins Elbit Vision Systems will develop, engineer and test the Improved Joint Helmet Mounted Cueing System, the Department of Defense said Friday.
The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division asked CEVS to deliver six updated helmet displays with support equipment, mass models, spare visors, cockpit units and aircraft kits under the cost-plus-fixed-fee contract.
Obligated funds on the award amounting to $7.7 million will come from the Navy’s fiscal 2023 research, development, test and evaluation funds.
