Motorola Solutions (NYSE: MSI) has announced plans to purchase Spillman Technologiesfor an undisclosed amount in an effort to expand the communications platforms provider’s portfolio of records management systems and computer-assisted dispatch software targeted at public safety agencies.
The companies said Monday they expect the deal to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2016 in a transaction subject to closing conditions.
Bruce Brda, executive vice president of products and services at Motorola Solutions, said the transaction would help Motorola meet the needs of its clients in the public safety sector through the expansion of its software and command center offerings that include land mobile radio platforms, RMS, CAD and LTE dispatching tools.
Salt Lake City, Utah-based Spillman Technologies works to provide software platforms such as CAD and RMS as well as technical support, training, account management and other professional services to over 1, 700 public safety and law enforcement agencies in the U.S.
