Boeing (NYSE: BA) has won a five-year, $5.02 billion contract from the Missile Defense Agency to test, integrate and ensure readiness of the country’s Ground-Based Midcourse Defense system against potential ballistic missile attacks.
The award covers physical and logical integration of the GMD element into the Ballistic Missile Defense System and routine maintenance and analysis of the ground weapon, the Department of Defense said Tuesday.
MDA received three proposals for the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract and is issuing an initial task order valued at $506.7 million.
The agency is obligating $4.5 million on the award from its fiscal 2022 research, development, test and evaluation funds.
Work will primarily occur in Huntsville, Alabama, and is expected to be completed by Aug. 31, 2027.
