Boeing (NYSE: BA) and a Leonardo DRS subsidiary have received contracts worth up to $192.8 million combined to install Gigabit Ethernet Data Multiplex System hardware aboard the U.S. Navy™s DDG 51-class destroyers.
The firm-fixed-price contracts also cover the provision of spare parts and checkout repair services for AN/USQ-82(V) GEDMS in support of Arleigh Burke-class modernization, LHA-8 amphibious assault ship and Aegis Ashore projects as well as DDG 51 programs of Japan and South Korea under a foreign military sales agreement, the Defense Departmentsaid Wednesday.
The Naval Sea Systems Command has initially obligated $8.3 million on the contract with DRS Laurel Technologies and another $6.9 million on Boeing’s contract.
The contract with Boeing could reach a ceiling value of $116.5 million if all options are exercised, while DRS Laurel Technologies™ contract could hit a total value of $76.3 million should the service branch exercise all options.
Work will occur at contractor facilities in Huntington Beach, California and Johnstown, Pennsylvania, through December 2023.
