Bluestone-Backed CTI Buys Asymmetric Technologies; Jay Moorman Quoted

Chesapeake Technology International has purchased Asymmetric Technologies in a transaction that expands its portfolio of products and technology transition and hardware development capabilities to meet edge communications and flight autonomy requirements of Department of Defense and national security customers.

Established in 2011, Asymmetric has been providing open-source technologies, flight controllers and waveform technologies designed to meet mission-specific needs of national security and DOD clients, CTI said Monday.

“This acquisition will enhance our ability to deliver comprehensive software and purpose-built hardware products and solutions for our customers and reaffirms our strategy to invest in our business to address evolving national security needs,” said CTI CEO Jay Moorman.

CTI will integrate Asymmetric’s IronClad and Whisper systems into its product portfolio as a result of the transaction, which marks CTI’s second investment to deliver new platforms meant to address DOD’s unmanned aircraft system requirements.

CTI is a portfolio company of Bluestone Investment Partners, a private equity firm targeting middle-market businesses in the defense and government services sector.
