Black Box to Help Update Army's SW Asia Comms Infrastructure Under $166M Contract

Black Box (Nasdaq: BBOX) has secured a potential five-year, $166 million task order contract to help the U.S. Army modernize its communications infrastructure in Southwest Asia.

The company said Tuesday it will update the service branch’s Unified Capability Sets for Outside Plant, Inside Plant and Data Center systems under the contract.

Jeff Murray, senior vice president of Black Box’s government solutions business, said the company will provide management, engineering, technical and implementation support to help address Army infrastructure requirements across the region.

The service branch has initially obligated nearly $19 million on the award.

Upgrades will allow the Army’s communications infrastructure to conform with the Defense Information Systems Network Enterprise Network Installation Campus Area Network Design & Implementation architecture and support the Joint Information Environment.

Blackbox noted that work will occur at the branch’s SWA theater sites within the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility.
