BAE Systems‘ ship repair business in San Diego, California, has received a potential $192.7 million contract to provide post-delivery execution yard services for the first two guided missile destroyers of the U.S. Navy‘s Zumwalt class.
The Defense Departmentsaid Monday the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract covers support for mission systems activation and post-shakedown availability of the USS Zumwalt and USS Michael Monsoor destroyer vessels.
BAE Systems San Diego Ship Repair will help the Navy install combat systems, implement corrective action required for government responsible trial cards and deficiencies, perform work identified between custody transfer and PSA and execute engineering changes not covered by the shipbuilding contract.
The service branch awarded the contract after a full and open competition on FedBizOpps.
Work is scheduled to finish in September 2021 and the Navy obligated $10.3 million in fiscal 2017 shipbuilding and conversion funds at time of award.
