The company said Wednesday it will produce and deliver 40 sets of M109A7 howitzers and M992A3 CAT platforms and spare parts to the service branch.
Work will occur at BAE locations in Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Michigan, New York, Oklahoma and South Carolina. It will run through Dec. 31, 2024, according to the Department of Defense.
The M109A7 howitzer is the latest offering in BAE’s M109 family of vehicles capable of providing indirect fire support for armored brigade combat teams and incorporating a new chassis, engine, transmission and steering system.
BAE’s land and armaments business unit initially received a $133.6 million contract in April 2017 to obtain materials needed to support the ground vehicles’ production.
The latest order brings the Army’s total number of vehicle sets to 310 and increases the total contract value to $1.9 billion.
