A joint venture composed of Amentum,Jacobs (NYSE: J) and Honeywell (Nasdaq: HON) has begun cleanup operations at the Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge Reservation in Tennessee.
United Cleanup Oak Ridge will start remedial work at the East Tennessee Technology Park following the completion of transition activities under a potential 10-year, $8.3 billion indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract, Amentum said Tuesday.
In October, DOE awarded UCOR the single-award, IDIQ contract, which includes cleanup work on the Y-12 National Security Complex and the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, construction of the onsite Environment Management Disposal Facility and maintenance, surveillance and operation of multiple facilities. UCOR expects the contract’s task order performance to extend to up to five years.
Ken Rueter, president and CEO of UCOR, will lead a team of nearly 2,000 personnel to help reduce environmental risk on the state’s Oak Ridge Reservation.
The industry team also includes small businesses working on the program: RSI EnTech, Environmental Alternatives, Strata-G and Longenecker & Associates.
