Airbus has partnered with San Francisco-based digital vehicle manufacturer LM Industries to form a new business entity focused on mobility operations and autonomous technology called Neorizon.
Neorizon seeks to create 200 technical jobs and apprenticeship opportunities for the design and engineering of mobility tech for various applications such as urban cargo distribution, LM Industries said Friday.
An Airbus campus located near Munich, Germany, will house Neorizon’s microfactory.
Peter Weckesser, digital transformation officer at Airbus’ defense and space business, said the company has been working with LM Industries since 2016 and the new venture will apply materials engineering and additive and digital manufacturing expertise.
LM Industries has built an AV shuttle vehicle with an open architecture, while Airbus has developed a positioning system to support takeoff-and-landing activities for unmanned aircraft.
