Airbus‘ helicopter manufacturing business has received a potential three-year, $273.3 million contract to supply the U.S. Army with 35 units of the UH-72ALakota aircraft.
The Army Contracting Command solicited and received one bid for the procurement of light utility vehicles, the Defense Departmentsaid Thursday.
The service branch will obligate $136.6 million in fiscal 2017 and fiscal 2018 aircraft procurement at the time of award.
UH-72A is a variant of the EC145 multimission helicopter and designed for homeland security, passenger transportation, logistics, drug interdiction and medical evacuation missions.
The Army initially conducted a competitive process in mid-2006 for its requirement of up to 345 UH-72As with a potential $2 billion life cycle value.
