The U.S. Air Force has awarded a potential nine-year, $986M contract to eight companies for space launch mission support to the Department of Defense and other government agencies as part of Orbital Services Program-4.
DoD said Thursday the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract is designed to “capitalize on the emerging small launch providers and accelerate the procurement of industry services to send more than 400 pounds of payload to orbit over the next two years.
The Air Force Space and Missile Systems Center received nine bids for the multiple-award IDIQ and will obligate $50K in fiscal 2019 space procurement funds at the time of award.
Contract work will take place at various government launch sites and contractor facilities.
