United Launch Alliance, a joint venture of Boeing (NYSE: BA) and Lockheed Martin(NYSE: LMT), has received $146.5 million in contract funds from the U.S. Air Force to provide launch vehicle production services for a new Atlas V configuration.
The Defense Departmentsaid Friday that ULA will provide an Atlas V 551 rocket configuration and payload fairing and transportation under the contract modification.
The Air Force’s Space and Missile Systems Center obligated the full amount of the modification from fiscal 2016 missile procurement funds.
Work will occur in Alabama, California and Colorado through Dec. 12, 2020.
The Atlas V family of Evolved Expandable Launch Vehicles has completed more than 600 launches since its debut in August 2002 and achieved 100 percent mission success in launches from Space Launch Complex-41 and Space Launch Complex-3E.
