Air Force Exercises $197M Option on Boeing E-4B Sustainment IDIQ

Boeing (NYSE: BA) will continue to help the U.S. Air Force maintain the service branch’s E-4B aircraft fleet under a one-year, $196.5M contract option.

Services include program management, engine sustainment, depot maintenance and system integration laboratory support work, the Department of Defense said Wednesday.

DoD added the company will procure, repair and overhaul spares under the exercised option.

The award represents Option Five of a potential 10-year, $134M indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract awarded in 2015 and USAF is obligating $75.7M on the new sole-source order.

E-4B is a four-engine military derivative of the Boeing 747-200 and functions as command, control and communications post that serves the U.S. president, defense secretary and the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

The long-range high-altitude plane is designed to accommodate 112 passengers and perform aerial refueling missions.
