The U.S. Air Force has selected Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) and United Technologies Corp.‘s (NYSE: UTC) Pratt and Whitney subsidiary as additional awardees on a potential seven-year, $409 million contract to research and develop thermal, power and controls technologies for the service branch.
The Defense Departmentsaid Tuesday the contractors will carry out applied research to increase knowledge of future power, thermal and controls requirements as well as assess the technological feasibility, operability and producibility of thermal, power and controls components and architectures.
Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) won the first spot under the Next Generation Thermal, Power, and Controls contract in late June.
The Air Force Research Laboratory received seven offers for the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract through a competitive procurement process.
Work will occur at contractor facilities through July 2024.
