Saurabh Verma and Cristina Miller of Acumen Solutions have said government agencies should adopt platform as a service to quickly develop and deploy mission-impacting applications designed to improve the citizen experience.
Verma and Miller wrote in a joint article that PaaS offers agencies more time to focus on innovation since the technology provides a pre-built infrastructure that works to speed up project delivery.
Agencies can implement PaaS, use the drag-and-drop interface to customize without developers and reuse PaaS features built by other organizations, they noted.

Since PaaS provides the core infrastructure and reusable features, our client conversations have evolved from what a button should look like to how we can build a system that provides the best customer experience.
Miller and Verma discussed how PaaS platforms certified under the General Services Administrations Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program help agencies save time and generate savings when it comes to ensuring cybersecurity.
They also cited how PaaS promotes collaboration among agencies and encourages government employees to further develop their skill sets in order to achieve their agencies missions.
Since PaaS takes care of the basic needs, they feel empowered to think creatively as to how they can support their agencies missions, they wrote.
